Sailing!

After months of looking out our living room window at countless sailboats on the bay, we finally decided to enroll in sailing lessons.  I had no idea there was SO much to learn!  It's amazing how challenging it is, and how much physics are involved.  It was also like learning an entirely new language!  For two 6-hour days we navigated the wind, the current, and the waves, and we're told that San Francisco bay is one of the most difficult places to sail.  I sure hope so.  It was a tiring, but super fun weekend, and I definitely had to take several doses of dramamine, but it was worth it.  We barely scratched the surface, but after learning how to tack, gybe, and work a tiller, I'm hopeful that we can put our new skills to use!

We had a fabulous instructor, Bill (top left), and two fun boat mates

Our boat for the weekend was a 23-footer, miss Georgy. She treated us well!
